Editorial policy

Sourcing

Every number, rating, code section and definition in an article is checked against a primary or authoritative source: model codes, government energy programs, standards bodies, rating organizations and manufacturer technical documents. The sources an article relies on are listed at its end. When a claim cannot be verified, it is left out or stated in general terms.

Code and standards references

Building codes are adopted and amended by states and cities. Articles name the model code section and the edition checked, but the rule that applies to your project is the one your local building official enforces. Confirm before you design or order.

No pay for coverage

SeeWindow does not accept payment, free products or other compensation in exchange for coverage, rankings or links. If that ever changes, paid or sponsored content will be labeled as such on the page and its links will carry the appropriate attributes.

Independence and disclosure

The site is written by one author who works professionally with European window and door systems. Where an article names a product category, it describes how the category works rather than recommending a brand. Brand names appear only where they are needed to explain a term.

Updates and corrections

Articles are reviewed and refreshed when standards, codes or ratings change. The "Updated" date on an article changes only when its content changes. To report an error, write to the address on the contact page; verified corrections are made promptly.

Images

Diagrams are original and labeled as schematic when they are not to scale. We do not use stock photos to stand in for real projects.
